Our Story
What began as a part-time college job a decade ago at a local grocery store has since grown into a flourishing career. Working with longtime florist and former floral stand owner Sal Murdoch, I absorbed invaluable lessons in flower care and arrangement techniques. As I transitioned to working at esteemed San Francisco grocery stores like Gus’s Community Market and Bi-Rite Market, my expertise expanded to include sourcing local blooms and understanding seasonal variations. Dabbling in freelance projects while still employed in the grocery industry, I eventually found a full-time role at Wallflower, where with guidance and teachings of the wonderfully talented Eleanor Gerber-Siff (owner of Wallflower Design SF) helped me hone in on my craft and deepened my floral knowledge. At FioriDiBell our aesthetic emphasizes artful groupings, dynamic movement, vibrant color palettes, and varied textures, resulting in lush arrangements that exude an organic allure - an inviting haven for any passing bee.
The name FioridiBell loosely translates to Bell Flowers. The inspiration behind this name goes back to the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. During that challenging time, my father-in-law was bravely fighting a terminal illness and multiple health issues. Whenever I would sit and spend time with him/care for him after wok and on my days off, he would eagerly inquire about my work and freelance projects. His eyes would light up as he listened to details, looked at photos, and asked if I had brought any home. Amid our conversations, he asked me what I would name my own business (officially) if I were to start one—a pursuit he believed I had the potential to achieve (since I was already doing small events previously). He delighted in sharing his gardening wisdom and expertise, always enjoying comparing our knowledge of the flowering world. After considering various options, I found no name resonated as strongly as FioridiBell. Although he had passed away before I finalized the name, it is a testament to our shared love for discussing gardening, blooming flowers, and their profound beauty. The background image is of the last garden he nurtured (which my husband and I moved and transplanted to our home in Santa Rosa), flourishing with a diverse array of flowers but particularly abundant in roses, dahlias, and irises, and serves as a constant reminder of those meaningful conversations and cherished memories.
